Who are we?
We are a voluntary organisation dedicated to the training and use of mountain
rescue search dogs to assist in the search for and rescue of missing persons,
predominantly in a mountainous environment, but also in other areas where
our skills may be of benefit.
All Lake District mountain rescue search dog handlers are also members of a mountain rescue team affiliated
to the Lake District Search and Mountain Rescue Association (LDSMRA) and
therefore must already be competent in first aid and survival in a mountainous
environment.
The Association is a registered charity which can continue
to exist only because of public donations.
Latest Dog Find
28 February 2009
A 58 year old female who suffered from depression, was reported missing in the Witherslack area. Kendal MRT requested dogs to assist search the area round Whitbarrow Scar. After some time, her body was FOUND by Search Dog Beinn (Roger Pickup) at the foot of a 250 ft crag. She had suffered multiple injuries.

BURNS PET NUTRITION SPONSORSHIP EXTENDED
Burns Pet Nutrition sponsor our graded dogs by providing free food. This months they have also made a very generous additonal donation of £2800 to SARDA Lakes to help us with our running costs. We would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their support
LANGDALE FOLK FESTIVAL 2009 RAISES £526
Organised by Mick Mead, the Old Dungeon Ghyll (amongst other venues) hosted some excellent singers for the annual Folk Festival. Proceeds from the raffle and collections were shared between SARDA Lakes and the Great North Air Ambulance. Many thanks to Mick and his helpers!
WAINWRIGHT SOCIETY'S 214 CHALLENGE RAISES £2000 FOR SARDA LAKES
Members of the Wainwright Society completed their Lakeland 214 Challenge on 17 May. The sponsorship money raised (£4000 to date) has been divided equally between SARDA Lakes and our colleagues at SARDA England. We at SARDA Lakes would like to express our very grateful thanks to everyone at the Wainwright Society for this substantial contribution to our work.
