SARDA Lakes Dogsbodies

Without bodies, search and rescue dog training would not be possible. These dedicated souls come out onto the hill and lie in a bivvy bag waiting for the dog and handler to find them. On a nice weekend this can be a relaxing pastime, but sometimes the Lake District weather is not so nice!!

Bodies are involved in all aspects of the dogs' training, from puppy training, where the dogs is first learning how to find a body, to full search dog training where a body may hide on the mountain side for hours waiting for a dog to find.

The most important piece in the puzzle for training the dog is the body and their interaction and timing to ensure the dog is rewarded at exactly the right moment!!

Prospective handlers will body for a time to understand what is involved in training a searchdog.
