We are a voluntary organisation dedicated to the training and use of mountain
rescue search dogs to assist in the search for and rescue of missing persons,
predominantly in a mountainous environment, but also in other areas where
our skills may be of benefit.
All Lake District mountain rescue search dog handlers are also members of a mountain rescue team affiliated
to the Lake District Search and Mountain Rescue Association (LDSMRA) and
therefore must already be competent in first aid and survival in a mountainous
environment.
The Association is a registered charity which can continue
to exist only because of public donations.
Latest Dog Locate
23rd July 08 - Searchdog Comet
Langdale Ambleside requested the assistance of SARDA Lakes to search for a missing family lost in mist 'somewhere on the Crinkles'. They were located by Searchdog Comet (Mike Blakey) and LAMRT members after shouts were heard near Rest Ghyll and escorted off the hill.

Renown Pet Food manufacturers Burns Nutrition Ltd have kindly sponsored SARDA Lakes by supplying all graded searchdogs free quality foods. Whilst we raise money to support expenses such as training, insurance and to equip handlers, the cost of feeding and owning the dog is bourne by the handler, and therefore this is of great assistance.
