SARDA Lakes Training Information
20 - 27 February - Aviemore
Accommodation:
Norweigian Lodge - next to Glenmore Lodge
The main purpose of the weeks training is for GRADED Dogs to advance their avalanche skills - if there is limited snow conditions (or none) then there may be an opportunity for trainees to do some work - but this is not guaranteed.
WINTER SKILLS TRAINING FOR BODIES
We need to know WHICH BODIES would like to brush up winter skills – ice axe braking etc, with Neale on the first morning.
EQUIPMENT
Winter conditions will be likely and so bodies will need to be properly equipped - If you need to borrow anything please let Kaz know and I'll see what I can do / coordinate (within reason, before you all start!).
Everyone will need:
Goggles
Crampons
Boots
Transceiver (to be provided by SARDA if you don't have one)
Ice Axe
Winter Gloves
Waterproof Jacket
Waterproof Trousers
Warm Jacket / Fleece / Duvet or similar (and possibly a spare)
Emergency Food
Headtorch
Hat & Balaclava / Buff
Flask
Cairngorm Map & Compass (& GPS if you have one)
Rucsack - big enough for all this!
Bodies:
As above +
Bivvy Bag
Sleeping Bag for the fell (a second one - you'll need one in the hut)
Karimat
Dog Toys!
Handlers:
As Above +
Avalanche Probe
Warm Dog Jacket
Shovel
Bit of Karimat for the floor of the dog kennel on the fell
