GREAT NORTH SWIM 2008
Following on from Julie Graham's magnificant running of the London Marathon in 2008 for SARDA (Lakes) - there is another opportunity to sponsor idiots (sorry - participants) in the Great North Swim on the 13th September 2008.
Handler Kaz Frith, Penrith team member Daryl Garfield and Coniston team member (and SARDA Dogsbody) Kim Chick will be competing in the inaugural 1 mile open water swim in Lake Windermere on Saturday 13th September with about 2000 other competitors. They will also be joined by Pauline Powell who lives in Ulverston who has chosen SARDA Lakes for her charity.
So far training has been a little sparse, but Kaz is hoping to get the team out in Lake Ullswater for some training sessions! On the weekend of 26/27th July Kaz and Daryl managed a mile and a half in a very choppy Ullswater in about 40 mins and word is that Pauline has been training hard over in Coniston. Kim says she's planning on starting very soon!!!!

ABOUT THE SWIMMERS
Kaz Frith

Kaz is a dog handler and in the past was a competitve long distance swimmer - she hopes to complete the distance in about 25 mins although it has been 10 years since she swam a mile!
Daryl Garfield
Kaz's partner Daryl a member of the Penrith team is a former Lifeguard and hopes to complete the distance in about 25-30 mins - and it's been a while since he swam a mile too!
Kim Chick
SARDA dogsbody and member of Coniston MRT Kim Chick is looking forward to the challenge - Kim is very enthusiastic and hopes to give Kaz and Daryl a run for their money by completing in a faster time!
Pauline Powell

Pauline Powell is (in her own words) the old lady of the team, a 53 year old grannie. Usually a marathon and half marathon runner she decided to take to the water to raise money for SARDA. She says she has no idea what time she will finish in, but will do her best and hopefully finish in front of a few people.
