Tom Barkas and Bruach
Dr Tom is a member of Kendal MRT and started training his border collie puppy Bruach in June 2008. Tom reviews and edits scientific manuscripts from Europe and the Far East before the authors send them to journals; before that, he translated French-English pharmaceutical/medical publications; and until 1991, he did research on finding treatments for an autoimmune disease of muscle called Myasthenia Gravis.....phew!....oh yes and he occasionally finds time to fit in Mountain Rescue and training a searchdog!!

Mike is a member of Patterdale MRT and their deputy leader. He is training his lively border collie bitch, Moss who will be second searchdog after his beautiful red collie Comet died in Dec 2008. Already Moss is showing great potential. Mike is an assessor with the association.

Dave Ellis (Kirkby Stephen MRT) and Mill
Dave is a member of Kirkby Stephen MRT and has bodied for SARDA for many years before deciding to train a searchdog. Mill is a black flatcoated retriever bitch and the team passed their registration test in early 2010. Mill is a really lively and happy dog and just loves playing with her toys and finding the bodies.

Nick Fayers and Sam
Nick is a member of Langdale Ambleside and is training his border collie Sam - Nick's previous searchdog Yana retired in 2007 after 6 years service to the Association. Nick is a Development Training Consultant at Brathay Trust and spends much of his spare time with his family. Sam is the son of Searchdog Beinn - another handsome boy!

Chris Francis and Beck
Chris is a member of Keswick and is training his Labrador bitch Beck - Chris has had two graded dogs (both Labradors) who served SARDA Lakes for a total of 20 years - Beck is already picking up the game and all the handlers are waiting for Chris to start assessments in the next few years as we have all been at the end of some of his 'motivational' speeches in our time. Chris is the callout co-ordinator for the teams and also an Assessor with the Association.

Daryl Garfield (Penrith MRT) and Dram
Collie puppie Dram was born in February 09. Dram shares a household with Daryl's partner Kaz and her searchdog Dottie. Daryl is an emergency blue light driving instructor for Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service and a member of Penrith MRT. Dram is a very wilfull and independant dog - but loves a cuddle with the bodies!

Joy Grindrod and Einich
Joy is a member of Langdale Ambleside MRT and is training her beautiful (and wilful) border collie bitch Einich. Einich is Joy's second dog - having been partnered by Anna for 13 years. Joy is an artist and has exhibited widely (including at the National Mountaineering Exhibition at Rheged). Einich is showing great promise and loves the game of search. Joy is an Assessor with the association.

Christyne Hall (Coniston MRT) and Bute
Christyne is a member of Coniston MRT and is a Police Officer. Collie puppie bitch Bute was born in February 09 and has some big paws to step into as Christyne has already had a searchdog - Skye who has now retired and is keeping an eye on Bute's training. Bute started formal training in early 2010. Christyne is an assessor with the association

Ian Higginbotham (Kendal MRT) and Keppie
Ian is a graded handler with his retired searchdog Vinny and has decided to train another German Shepherd - the beautiful Kepple (Kep or Keppie for short) named after the place where he graded with Vinny. Keppie comes from Czech working lines and has a fantastic temperament and loud voice already!! Ian and Keppie started formal training in early 2010.

Glenn Hodges and Molly
Glenn is a member of Penrith MRT and is training his lively border collie bitch Molly. Glen currently works in the construction industry. Molly was born in early 2008 and passed her introductory test in November 08. Molly is already responding well to the search game and is teaching Glenn everything she knows!

Paul O'Mahoney and Scar
Paul has recently introduced Scar to SARDA lakes and this big and bold collie is already very keen to prove himself as a potential searchdog. Paul is a member of Duddon and Furness MRT. Scar has unfortunately been very ill but is now on the mend and has been able to resume training

Bill Malone (Kendal MRT) and Annie
Bill is a member of Kendal MRT and a retired orthapaedic surgeon. Bill has already tried training a search dog - sadly it wasnt to be, but, like many handlers he decided to try again and learn from his mistakes. Annie a pretty border collie bitch seems very alert and keen, and Bill started formal training in April 2010

Andy Peacock (Patterdale MRT) and Corrie
Andy is a fireman and a member of Patterdale MRT. His dog - Corrie is a red and white collie bitch and although tiny in stature is big in character! Corrie is already taking a great interest in finding those bodies - she loves playing her favorite game of search with them

Elly Whiteford and Meg
Elly is a member of Keswick MRT and Meg is her second dog. Elly has a border collie called Mac who is her current searchdog - he was found abandoned and starving on a beach. Her new trainee is a border collie bitch called Meg It has taken a little while to get this timid little dog out of her shell but in November 08, Meg passed her introductory test and is now really enjoying the game. Elly is an assessor with the Association

Simon Woodrow (Patterdale MRT) and Molly
Simon is a member of Patterdale MRT and recently retired from the Police where he was a dog handler and so brings along plenty of experience to us. He now works for Outward Bound and started training with his border collie Molly (Sister to trainee Bute) in April of 2010.
